Christmas is one of the favorite seasons for young and old across the world. Traditions may vary from country to country and family to family but the main common feeling is joyful anticipation for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Shopping Centers and stores are filled with bright decorations and gifts many days ahead and people rush to prepare for the season. Christmas trees, baked delicacies, traditional cookies, and a huge variety of gifts are all accompanied by Christmas music wherever you go. They create a festive atmosphere that brings smiles, especially to the little ones who can't wait for that special moment when they will finally hold their gift and open it. Families will come together to celebrate and gifts in colorful wrappings will be exchanged. Still, there is a gift that no one can see but is the best of all. The gift of our presence and undivided attention to our loved ones. It's easy to focus on all the preparations and the busyness of the season and overlook the meaning altogether. If we take a closer look at the Christmas story we'll see how the Infinite God of the universe sent his precious Son to be born among simple people, in the simple setting of a manger so that he could dwell among us and eventually show people the way back to him. Christmas is about how Jesus Christ came to this earth to become our Savior and is present in the lives of those who accepted Him. Over the years lots of decorations and brightness have been added to the Christmas celebrations. There are plenty of seasonal movies, festive activities, parties, and lots of tasty treats to enjoy. But we also need to remember that Christmas wouldn't exist without Christ. He is Emanuel which means God is with us. The gifts exchanged are there to remind us of the precious gift God sent to humanity as well as the gifts offered by the wise men who acknowledged him as Savior. God wants to be present in our lives and this is the best gift we can also give to our families. Our presence, our undivided attention, and lots of love that is expressed in all kinds of ways. Let's spend meaningful time with our families this Christmas season.
