Don't miss the fun!

Life lessons can be found in many different places. One day, as I was riding the bus home from work, I overheard a conversation between two elderly men sitting just in front of me. It seemed like it had been a long time since they last met, and when one asked the other how life had treated him, the response was, "It's been good. I worked a lot, made a lot of money, and my business went well. The problem is, I don't have a strong relationship with my children. I hardly know them because I was never around. I left early every morning for work and returned late at night. Now they are all grown and have their own families and I don't see them very often." I will never forget the sadness on his face as he spoke about not truly knowing his kids. Time is precious, and it's important to use it wisely, so we don't end up regretting lost moments. Of course, we all want successful careers, and we want our children to thrive academically, in sports, or in whatever they pursue. But most importantly, we want to build strong, healthy relationships and truly enjoy life with them. The best way to do this is by making room for fun moments. Whether it's playing a board game, baking cookies together, kicking a soccer ball around in the backyard, taking a walk in the park, or visiting the zoo—every moment spent together is valuable. It's during these times that bonding happens, providing space not only for enjoyment but for their questions as well. They look to us for answers, for new ideas, and for guidance as they explore the world around them. School, work, and all our other commitments will go on regardless. Let’s carve out some time in our lives for fun and connection!
